Who is Billie?

Billie is a British-born artist who has lived most of her life in England and Europe. She started her artistic journey at the young age of 15, working as an au pair in Switzerland. This experience eventually led her to Paris, where she connected with other artists in the vibrant Momart community.

After returning to England, Billie continued to travel extensively without picking up a brush for many years. It wasn't until the 1990s, after a visit to California, that she rediscovered her passion for painting. Inspired by the natural beauty of Palm Springs, she decided to move closer to one of her close friends living in the area.

Billie's artistic career took off when she started working and selling her art at a local gallery. Her work quickly gained popularity, and the gallery began showcasing her pieces, which were met with great success. This opened up new opportunities, including participation in the prestigious Beverly Hills art show, where she was introduced to influential figures like Stephen Gethers, Arnie Shupack, and Michael Douglas.

As her reputation grew, Billie found herself in high demand, with her art being rented for use in Hollywood movies. This "carpet ride" continued as she expanded her reach, taking on commissions and selling paintings in New York and across America. Along the way, she even had the honor of meeting the Dalai Lama at a Beverly Wilshire dinner.

In the late 1990s, Billie became a renowned artist, but a call from her son informing her that she was about to become a grandmother prompted a decision to return to England. There, she continued to paint for her son's property development business, Guy Phoenix, until 2024.

Now, Billie has returned to the desert, where she has a home and studio in Rancho Mirage, California. Her artistic style has evolved from watercolors to a mix of oil and acrylic, and her subject matter has shifted from French scenes to more contemporary compositions. Billie is always available for larger commissions and invites you to explore the works on her website.
